Since early 23 July, Garmin Connect has been down. This mail explains how to continue to upload your bike rides to Strava during this time.
Update: On 27 July Garmin appear that its services accept begun to resume. They too confirmed the company had been the victim of a cyberattack. However, they noted that there is indication that any customer data was accessed or stolen. Await your logged bicycle rides to start uploading. But expect delays, due to a large excess.

Many of us dearest uploading our bicycle rides. Many of us use our Garmin bike computers to auto upload them. So, from that, they auto-upload to Strava. This is bang-up, for a whole range of reasons. For me it is just wonderfully inspiring to look back on my Strava records and run into what kinds of rides I was doing years agone. It often motivates me to bicycle more than – to endeavor and keep up with Past-Joe!
More unremarkably, many cyclists utilise Strava to inspire themselves to train harder to apply Strava to compete with others.
Some take it to extremes – I remember one time I forgot to switch off my Garmin cycle computer after I loaded my wheel into my motorcar. Halfway home I remembered and switched it off. I thought I would delete the ride when I got abode. Only while I finished the drive, the ride auto uploaded to Strava. Past the fourth dimension I got home, I had a frighteningly threatening message from a guy because I had "cheated" and "stolen" his record. Of class, I immediately deleted the "bicycle ride."
With more and more older (and mayhap more forgetful) cyclists out there, I would suggest that if someone "steals" your tape, with what is quite obviously a bike plus a machine ride, non simply a bike ride, we should pb with politely pointing out to them that they may take made an error.

What if the Garmin Spider web Site is Downwardly?
In any outcome, the Garmin Connect app and the spider web dashboard are both downwardly. Y'all cannot log into the desktop. You cannot synch to Strava. And you cannot even contact them – tht is downwardly as well.
Garmin has been tight-lipped about the crusade, merely stating on Twitter:
"We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin Connect, and as a result, the Garmin Connect website and mobile app are down at this fourth dimension."
When will Garmin Connect exist Back up?
In a word, no 1 knows.
What Caused Garmin Connect to Go Down?
Again, no 1 knows. Of course, the online community is speculating that it was caused by a ransomware attack. I would say this is very probable. I once worked for a company that specialized in online information, and nosotros were nether constant threat. Nosotros were concord earnest for ransom at least twice in the three years I worked in that location. Our It department labored constantly to protect united states from these kinds of attacks. And we were pocket-sized potatoes compared to Garmin.
So yes, it seems safe to assume they have been successfully attacked. But they are a powerful company, and I am confident they will sort this out soon. And I hope the hijackers end up in prison – where they belong for disrupting the lives of millions of cyclists and runners!
